Yesaya 14:2

14:2 Nations will take them and bring them back to their own place. Then the family of Jacob will make foreigners their servants as they settle in the Lord’s land. ¹  They will make their captors captives and rule over the ones who oppressed them.

Yesaya 28:4

28:4 The withering flower, its beautiful splendor,

situated at the head of a rich valley,

will be like an early fig before harvest –

as soon as someone notices it,

he grabs it and swallows it. ² 

Yesaya 36:7

36:7 Perhaps you will tell me, ‘We are trusting in the Lord our God.’ But Hezekiah is the one who eliminated his high places and altars and then told the people of Judah and Jerusalem, ‘You must worship at this altar.’

Yesaya 39:2

39:2 Hezekiah welcomed ³  them and showed them his storehouse with its silver, gold, spices, and high-quality olive oil, as well as his whole armory and everything in his treasuries. Hezekiah showed them everything in his palace and in his whole kingdom. ⁴

41:7 The craftsman encourages the metalsmith,

the one who wields the hammer encourages ⁵  the one who pounds on the anvil.

He approves the quality of the welding, ⁶ 

and nails it down so it won’t fall over.”

Yesaya 42:24

42:24 Who handed Jacob over to the robber?

Who handed Israel over to the looters? ⁷ 

Was it not the Lord, against whom we sinned?

They refused to follow his commands;

they disobeyed his law. ⁸ 

Yesaya 43:9

43:9 All nations gather together,

the peoples assemble.

Who among them announced this?

Who predicted earlier events for us? ⁹ 

Let them produce their witnesses to testify they were right;

let them listen and affirm, ‘It is true.’

Yesaya 44:23

44:23 Shout for joy, O sky, for the Lord intervenes; ¹⁰ 

shout out, you subterranean regions ¹¹  of the earth.

O mountains, give a joyful shout;

you too, O forest and all your trees! ¹² 

For the Lord protects ¹³  Jacob;

he reveals his splendor through Israel. ¹⁴ 

Yesaya 45:1

45:1 This is what the Lord says to his chosen ¹⁵  one,

to Cyrus, whose right hand I hold ¹⁶ 

in order to subdue nations before him,

and disarm kings, ¹⁷ 

to open doors before him,

so gates remain unclosed:

Yesaya 56:3

56:3 No foreigner who becomes a follower of ¹⁸  the Lord should say,

‘The Lord will certainly ¹⁹  exclude me from his people.’

The eunuch should not say,

‘Look, I am like a dried-up tree.’”

Yesaya 58:2-3

58:2 They seek me day after day;

they want to know my requirements, ²⁰ 

like a nation that does what is right

and does not reject the law of their God.

They ask me for just decrees;

they want to be near God.

58:3 They lament, ²¹  ‘Why don’t you notice when we fast?

Why don’t you pay attention when we humble ourselves?’

Look, at the same time you fast, you satisfy your selfish desires, ²² 

you oppress your workers. ²³ 

Yesaya 63:7

A Prayer for Divine Intervention

63:7 I will tell of the faithful acts of the Lord,

of the Lord’s praiseworthy deeds.

I will tell about all ²⁴  the Lord did for us,

the many good things he did for the family of Israel, ²⁵ 

because of ²⁶  his compassion and great faithfulness.
